Tensile is led by Arthur Young and Doug Dossey, with over 50 years of collective investment experience, who have together assembled a nine person investment team possessing diverse and extensive experience across investigative journalism, investing, law, consulting, investment banking, and accounting.

Leadership

  • Arthur Young

    Co-Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager

    Arthur is a co-founder of Tensile and leads the Firm’s public equity activities, focused on sourcing, researching, and executing public investments. Prior to founding Tensile, Arthur was a Managing Partner, member of the Investment and Management Committees, and the Head of Public Equity at Blum Capital. He also served on the board of JDA Software Inc. (NASDAQ: JDAS) until its sale to RedPrairie. Arthur started his investment career at Fir Tree Partners and subsequently was an investment partner at Blavin & Company. He previously worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company and practiced commercial and securities litigation at Greenberg Traurig, LLP. Arthur earned a BA in Economics with Honors from Johns Hopkins University and a JD from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley.

  • Doug Dossey

    Co-Managing Partner and Head of Private Equity

    Doug is a co-founder of Tensile and leads the Firm's private equity activities, focused on sourcing, researching, and executing both public and private investments. Prior to co-founding Tensile, Doug was a Managing Partner, member of the Investment and Management Committees, and the Head of Private Equity at Blum Capital. Previously, Doug was a Managing Director and Co-Owner of FdG Associates, and prior to FdG, an investment banking Analyst and Associate with Merrill Lynch & Co. Doug has served on 32 boards of directors, including 15 as Chairman. He received a BS in Accountancy with High Honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and passed the CPA examination in 1995.

  • Dan Katsikas

    Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Compliance Officer

    Dan is a co-founder of Tensile and leads the firm’s operations, finance, compliance, and investor relations activities. Prior to Tensile, Dan was the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and a Managing Director of J.C. Flowers & Co. LLC, where he also served on the firm’s Investment and Operating Committees. Previously, Dan was a Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of Bear Stearns Merchant Banking and, prior to that, was the Chief Financial Officer of Trivest Partners. Dan previously spent nine years in public accounting at Kaufman, Rossin & Co. He received a BS in Accountancy from the University of Florida and passed the CPA examination in 1993.

  • Ted Crockin

    Managing Director

    Ted is a Managing Director on Tensile’s investment team. Prior to Tensile, Ted was a Principal at Sixth Street where he focused on sourcing, executing, and managing investments in the private equity and credit markets. Previously, Ted was a Vice President at Oaktree Capital Management on the Private Equity and Special Situations team and, prior to that, an Investment Banking Analyst at Moelis & Company. Ted earned a BS in Commerce with Distinction from the University of Virginia.

  • Lake Wang

    Senior Analyst

    Lake is a Senior Analyst on Tensile’s investment team. Prior to Tensile, Lake was a Senior Analyst at Valiant Capital Partners where he evaluated global equity investment opportunities across public and private markets. Previously, Lake was an Investment Analyst at Citadel LLC and, prior to that, an Investment Banking Analyst in the Financial Institutions Group at Morgan Stanley. Lake earned an AB in Applied Mathematics (Cum Laude) from Harvard University.

  • Tom Moore

    Senior Analyst

    Tom is a Senior Analyst on Tensile’s investment team. Prior to Tensile, Tom completed his MBA at Columbia Business School and was a member of its Value Investing Program. Previously, Tom was a Senior Associate at PwC in its management consulting group focused on strategic planning and forecasting projects. Tom earned a BBA in Finance and Business Honors and a BA in Plan II Honors at the University of Texas at Austin.

  • Deva Saxena

    Senior Associate

    Deva is a Senior Associate on Tensile’s investment team. Prior to Tensile, Deva was an Associate at Digital Alpha where he focused on executing and managing TMT private equity investments. Previously, Deva was an Associate at Kearney responsible for driving growth strategies and operating model transformations. Deva holds both an MBA and MA (International Studies) from The Wharton School and Lauder Institute, as well as a BA and BL with Honors from the University of New South Wales.

  • Shelley Neumeier

    Principal – Qualitative Research

    Shelley joined Tensile at its inception and conducts qualitative due diligence on prospective investments and portfolio companies. Prior to Tensile, Shelley was a Principal at Blum Capital and, prior to Blum, was an Analyst in the manager selection group at Soros Fund Management. Shelley started her investment career as a Research Analyst at Blavin & Company. Shelley was previously a reporter and then an investing editor for Fortune Magazine as well as a producer for CNBC Asia. She earned a BA from Brown University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

  • Una Shing

    Research Associate

    Una is a Research Associate on Tensile’s investment team. Prior to Tensile, Una was a Consultant at Oliver Wyman, where she drove commercial due diligence and growth strategy initiatives across public and private equity markets. Una holds a BS in Business Administration (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Southern California.

  • Carolyn Pritchard

    Investigative Researcher

    Carolyn is an Investigative Researcher for Tensile and conducts qualitative due diligence on prospective investments and portfolio companies. Prior to Tensile, Carolyn was freelance writer and editor, and the Global Content Manager for Kurt Salmon (now part of Accenture). Carolyn began her career as a financial journalist, including as Managing Editor at GigaOM and before that, the Breaking News Desk Editor at MarketWatch. She earned a Masters in Journalism from UC Berkeley and a BA in Women’s Studies from the University of British Columbia.

Finance and Operations

  • Chris Fontana

    VP of Finance and Operations

    Chris is Tensile’s VP of Finance and Operations. Prior to Tensile, Chris was a Vice President at Fortress Investment Group, where he was responsible for performance reporting for various hedge and private equity funds within Fortress’ credit business. Before that, he was an Associate at Waterfall Asset Management, a whole-loan and ABS investment firm, where he served as a fund accountant for the whole-loan funds. Chris began his career as an Audit Associate at Deloitte & Touche, conducting audits of the firm’s private equity clients. Chris received a BS in Applied Accounting and Finance and an MS in Professional Accounting from Fordham University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst.

  • Jen Schoenberg

    Controller

    Jen joined Tensile at its inception and is Tensile’s Controller. Prior to Tensile, Jen was the Chief Financial Officer at Americus Capital Advisors, a long/short investment firm. Prior to Americus, she provided administration services to hedge funds at SS&C Technologies (formerly Cogent Management) where she was responsible for reviewing monthly financial statements, NAV calculations, partnership documents and tax allocations. She previously worked as a Tax Consultant at US Trust Company of New York and a Senior Accountant at Reminick, Aarons and Company. Jen received a BS in Accountancy from Fordham University and passed the CPA examination in 1997.

  • Kevin Dinh

    Director of Marketing and Investor Relations

    Kevin is Tensile’s Director of Marketing and Investor Relations. Prior to Tensile, Kevin was the Head of Capital Markets at Vested. Previously, Kevin was a Vice President at JPMorgan Asset Management and an Associate at Morgan Stanley Global Research. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Kevin served for over 10 years on active duty with the United States Army, completing his service as a Captain. He earned a BA from Hawaii Pacific University, a BBA from Berkeley College, and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

  • Ninja Villalta

    Office Manager

    Ninja joined Tensile Capital Management as an Office Manager and Executive Assistant to the Co-Founders. Prior to Tensile, Ninja was an Executive Assistant at Marriott International. Ninja started her investment career as an Assistant at Charles Schwab Investment Management then Fiduciary Trust International. She earned an AS in Business from City College of San Francisco and is a commissioned Notary Public in California.
