Arthur is the Portfolio Manager of Tensile. He leads portfolio and risk management as well as trading for the firm, and focuses on sourcing, researching, and executing public investments. Prior to Tensile, Arthur was a Managing Partner and the head of public equity investing at Blum Capital, and served on the board of JDA Software Inc. (NASDAQ: JDAS) until its sale to RedPrairie. Arthur started his investment career at Fir Tree Partners and subsequently was an investment partner at Blavin & Company. Arthur previously worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, and practiced commercial and securities litigation at Greenberg Traurig, LLP. He received a BA in Economics with Honors from Johns Hopkins University and a JD from the University of California at Berkeley.
Doug is the Co-Portfolio Manager and Head of Private Equity of Tensile. He leads the firm’s private equity investment activities, and focuses on sourcing, researching, and executing both public and private investments. Prior to Tensile, Doug was a Managing Partner and the head of private equity at Blum Capital. Previously, Doug was a Managing Director and Co-Owner of FdG Associates and, prior to FdG, was an investment banking Analyst and Associate with Merrill Lynch & Co. Doug has served on 24 boards of directors, including 13 as Chairman. He received a BS in Accountancy with High Honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Dan is the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Compliance Officer of Tensile. Prior to Tensile, Dan was the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and a Managing Director of J.C. Flowers & Co. LLC, where he also served on the firm’s Investment and Operating Committees. Previously, Dan was a Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of Bear Stearns Merchant Banking (now known as Irving Place Capital) and, prior to that, was the Chief Financial Officer of Trivest Partners. Dan previously spent nine years in public accounting at Kaufman, Rossin & Co. He received a BS in Accountancy from the University of Florida.
Investment and Other Professionals
Shelley joined Tensile at its inception and is the Director of Research, leading the qualitative due diligence of prospective investments and current portfolio companies. Prior to Tensile, Shelley was a Principal at Blum Capital and, prior to Blum, was an Analyst in the manager selection group at Soros Fund Management. Shelley started her investment career as a Research Analyst at Blavin & Company. Shelley was previously a reporter and then an investing editor for Fortune Magazine as well as a producer for CNBC Asia. She earned a BA from Brown University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
Lake joined Tensile Capital Management as a Senior Analyst and is a member of the investment team. Prior to Tensile, Lake was a Senior Analyst at Valiant Capital Partners where he evaluated global equity investment opportunities across public and private markets. Previously, Lake was an Investment Analyst at Citadel LLC / Lodge Hill Capital and, prior to that, an Investment Banking Analyst in the Financial Institutions Group at Morgan Stanley. Lake earned an AB in Applied Mathematics (cum laude) from Harvard University.
Neal joined Tensile Capital Management as an Analyst and is now a Vice President. Prior to Tensile, Neal was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company where he served clients in the Corporate Finance and Restructuring practices. Neal earned a BS in Math and Computer Science (magna cum laude) from Denison University and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh.
Frank joined Tensile Capital Management as an Analyst and is a member of the investment team. Prior to Tensile, Frank was a Senior Associate at Sansome Partners, where he evaluated global equity investment opportunities across public and private markets. Previously, Frank worked as an Analyst in the Firm Strategy & Execution group at Morgan Stanley, where he served management in executing corporate M&A. Frank earned a BS in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry with Distinction and a BA in Economics with Distinction from Yale University.
Stefan Hortnagl Vonblon
Stefan joined Tensile Capital Management as an Analyst and is a member of the investment team. Prior to Tensile, Stefan was an Associate at J.P. Morgan where he served clients in M&A and capital markets transactions in the Latin American region. Stefan earned a BS in Economics (magna cum laude) from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Greg joined Tensile as Director of Marketing and Investor Relations. Prior to Tensile, he was co-Head of Marketing at GMT Capital Bay Resource Partners. Previously, he was a Director in Capital Introduction at BNP Paribas after working in Prime Brokerage sales at Bank of America Securities. Greg earned a BA in Chemistry and English Literature with honors from the University of Delaware and an MBA from Duke University. He is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) charter holder.
